Universal Geneve Polerouter
Gerald Genta is perhaps the single most important watch designer of all time. The Royal Oak, the Nautilus, and so many more, including the Polerouter. Gerald Genta, at the young age of 23 (20 years before he designed the iconic Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Patek Phillipe Nautilus), was asked to design a watch for Universal Geneve. A watch that would celebrate the SASs (Scandanavian Airlines Systems) polar flights from NY/LA to Europe. This is that watch.
This particular example, a reference 204604/9, is full of history and character. The original black dial has patinated into a wild burst of brown. It comes with the brown leather strap pictured as well as a tan leather strap from Holben's Fine Watch Straps (highly recommended).
